Day 7 Nubian village, Kom Ombo Temple

The motor boat ride was thru an area called the first cataract.  This name was given back in the Pharaohs time and was described as a scary place because the water turns different direction due to the current and the rocks. In the early days before motor boats this would have been almost impossible to navigate through this area with a sail or row boat. Egyptians depended on this area for protection from invaders coming up from Nubia.
This is the same style boat as the one we are on.
Grace and Kyle enjoying the Sun. We will be going in the direction of the hill in the background.

This is the middle of the first Cataract.  Twisting and winding as described by the early Egyptians.

It took about 30 min to reach the Nubian Village thru the winding and twisting passage between the rocks.  This area is very nice and I would love to spend a week in Aswan. It’s a much slower pace than anyplace we have visited in Egypt so far. Once we arrived at the Nubian city we were greeted by a  Nubian family who showed us thier house and pet.

Lunch?  not sure who would eat who.

Ti , Grace and Kyle decide to get some art work done.  Ti's hand shown below.
Nubian Spice market.

Kyle and Ti decide that another camel ride was in order.
After the Visit to the Nubian Village and a quick boat trip back and it was time for tea on the top deck.   This is a super relaxing setting with the green bank of the Nile cruising by.

The deck of the Ship has a swimming pool, jacuzzi, bar, excise bike, weight machine, ptable,

Next stop at 7PM was the temple of Kom  Ombo.  It was very different visiting a temple at night as it made it a bit more majestic.   This temple was walking distance from the Nile and stood out brightly in the evening sky.

I really hate to say this but you get accustomed to the wonderful art work on the temples. You just see so much of it that after awhile you are really looking for something that catches your eye and you gloss over the rest.   Below is one example of the type of art work you would see on every temple.

After sight seeing it was time for the Galabia party.   We purchase our Galabia outfits earlier in the day so we could play the part.  Do we look like an Egyptian family headed to a party. ?

Kyle watching the activities and dancing.
